STORM RESISTANT HOMES
Building a new home may be one of the biggest investment we make, not only financially but also emotionally. We want value for money, an energy efficient design, and a strong resilient home that performs well no matter what natural phenomenon comes our way. The warnings of global warming and the extreme weather conditions we have occasionally been experiencing in Australia recently, has made choosing a home design more important than ever in the past. read  more

Building Your Kit Home
The more personal input you can put into your home the more economical it will be. If you wish to be an Owner Builder but do not have any or little building experience, it is suggested you employ one or two carpenters to assist you. Employing on an hourly rate and working with them as a labourer etc is the most economical solution. If you are unable to help with any physical labour, it is suggested you get a quote from sub-contract carpenters or a builder to build to lock-up stage or completion. Circular Energy Homes can supply information on construction time for all their designs to help with the quotation.
It is suggested that you build your home in two steps (Step 1 - lock-up stage: Step 2 -completion). Quotes for internal linings (gyprock/villaboard), wet area waterproofing, kitchen cupboards etc are more accurate at lock-up stage (externally complete). Get two or three quotes for any major job as quotes can vary greatly depending on the work-load of the tradesmen. Check their previous work for quality. If your design has a concrete slab you will need a plumbing and electrical quote before you commence as drainage pipes and maybe electrical work will be installed before the concrete slab is poured.

We supply a very detailed construction Manual that is personalised for each home with step by step instructions. A Construction DVD for visual back-up is also supplied and greatly assists by letting you see how to do it plus the finished product as you proceed. The DVD is designed to view prior to following the steps in the Construction Manual on the job. There is a complete material identification list in the back of the Construction Manual.
